Sidewinder 3dpro not working with win2000 pro ?????

My sidewinder 3d pro does not work well on win2000pro,
microsoft says they know but have I have not found any
patches of fixes, can anyone help, trying to fly a a plain
in any flightsim is impossible. Message in control pannel
says... connected then not connected every 5 - 10 seconds.

You are most likely running into one of the biggest problems with gameport
devices in that they are unreliable in providing data on faster (~500Mhz and
up) systems. Of all the possible solutions I could recommend I would say my
personal choice would be to get a USB device to replace the 3D Pro.
Joysticks can be found that offer all of the features of the 3d Pro and more
for around $20.
Another solution would be buying a sound card with a more reliable gameport,
but that would probably cost more than a USB joystick.
Before you run out and replace your 3D Pro though can you provide me with
more information about your system (sound card model, cpu speed, etc)? I
might be able to find better solutions for you that way.
