SideWinder Strategic Commander

OK, maybe for some reason I'm having a brain fart or
something, but is microsoft trying to make the SideWinder
Strategic Commander disappear like a bastard child? I
have recently re-installed XP on my system due to some
major hardware changes and I can't find my install CD for
the SideWinder. So I searched, and searched, ...and
SEARCHED! for driver/software. NOTHING! It doesn't
exist. All I found was SideWinder software for Win9x.
So I went into my Game Controllers in the Control Panel
thinking that maybe I'm over looking something. So I did
a search for the controller and it found this, Microsoft
SideWinder 3D Pro. This controller that XP found is not
configurable nor does it work properly. So if anybody
could help me here, that would be great. Glad the other
products for my PC I have are not like this.

Hi Wink,

The Strategic Commander software, like the Sidewinder
4.0 software is not available for download unfortunately.

A person in a similar situation once posted on the NG's
that they were able to get their SC working using drivers
they found driverguide.com by searching for Strategic
Commander. Maybe that solution will work for you. ;-)
