Sidebar disappears

My sidebar disappears every time I click on the show desktop icon on the
quick launch. I can get it back by clicking the Start and typing sidebar.
But as soon as I click on the quick launch icon for show desktop, it
disappears again.

That's perfectly normal, because the sidebar is *not* part of the
desktop.

You can easily restore the sidebar by double-clicking it's system tray icon.
