Gadets disappear from sidebar

For no apparent reason, my gadgets will disappear from the sidebar. When it
happens, I can view the loaded gadgets and none will be listed. Is there
something I can do to keep the gadgets from disappearing from the sidebar?

I think you have a trojun Toby!! Locate Ad-Aware SE personal and AVG
free addition they are both available at OldVersion.com then do a
clean reinstall here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/sidebar-gadgets.aspx
