Sick HP 3820

Hi all. A friend at work has a HP3820. Had it under a year. All was
well until she tried to print a 4x6 something and didn't set the
printer to do such. Now when it is powered up the head moves to the
left, spins the rollers back and fourth a few times, spits out the
paper, and parks on the right side and has 2 lights blinking. I took
it home and installed it per the set-up disk and it does the same for
me. I took out and put back in the ink cartridges, tried to print
using the utilities that came with it. No luck. Tried to check the ink
levels and software said that my pc could not communicate with the
printer. Ink is new, HP brand. Tried changing printer ports. No luck.
I know this isn't a top of the line printer. Not even close. But it
seems a waste to turn it into dumpster meat without asking for a
little help from those who might now. Thanks.

repair my 3820 printer

Hi

This fault is a common problem with this printer. It is caused by
breakage of the small cog that connects the paper feed to the ink
cartridge service station.
No spare parts are available for this printer BUT THERE IS ANOTHER
OPTION.
see

for full details of how to repair this fault.
