Hi there! Someone help me to solve this unexpected behavior of my PC. I have
a PC HP Pentium III and the OS is Windows XP service pack 2, but then my
original OS was millennium edition and then I upgraded it into a Windows XP
service pack 1 then a months ago I updated it to a service pack 2 Using
windows update and now I’m using a service pack 2 OS and nothings problem but
recently all of the sudden the PC did not turned off or shut down even
restart. Why? When I go to start shut down the computer did not response and
only the icon of the quick lunch toolbar and the two icons in the taskbar
which are the Norton Internet security and the Anti Virus was gone and the
others are left likes the AdSubtract the speaker and the time clock and after
that nothing happened. You can use the computer like the same you can surf
the internet or even use some program. But not at all time I mean when I used
the computer 2 to 5 hours the computer turned it off with no problem but when
I used it 5 hours above that’s the time that the computer did not shutting
down or even restart. But why? I read the some other problem but their
problem was different to mine, some of them when they shut down the computer
hang but my computer did not. Hay! This problem has got me sick. Anyone can
help me? Thanks Buddy

I am having the same problem. I read this info, could someone maybe tell us
why this is happening all of a sudden?

Same here, a few weeks ago just started having problems shutting down.
For me it hangs with the hourglass on the desktop, other times it
hangs on the shut down screen. Seems to eventually shut it self down.

I have tried a number of fixes, updating Norton, disabling InCD,
checking everything running.

It doesn't happen all the time, usually have some heavy usage but not
always.
