shuts down and dumps shortly after booting up

I've tried to avoid the message that says an update is ready because I know
its only service pack 2.
It I let it install then my system will boot up and look like its ready to
go but then shuts down and dumps.
I thought at first it just needed several reboots in order to reconfigure
but 10??? What's going on and why can't a get booted up after installing
service pack 2?
 
Do you see any error messages? What exactly do they say?

It says something tried to write to read only memory...
