Shutdownand restart

I have tried a lot of things and it still dosent help. I reinstalled windows
XP and when I had everything running when I went to shut it off it just
restarted and did not shut down. When it restarted a blue screen flashed by
real fast and it restarted rite up. I slowed the system up so I could read
the blue screen but could not understand it.
Is there anyone out there that can help?

PS I do not have any roxio software that I know of.

Not without the error message. Your system is set to automatically reboot
on error. You won't be able to read the message until you change this.

Right-Click the My Computer icon on desktop. Select Properties.
Next, select Advanced. Look for a block that says Startup and recovery. Press the settings button.
In System failure section, turn off (un-check) Automatically restart. Apply change.

Have you checked your Power Management settings?
Get into Control Panel----Power Management---and turn on APM ---Advanced Power Management .
