SHUTDOWN

Hi, a friend of mine has been having major problems
shuting down thier pc. When they click on shutdown it
takes longer than normal but when it has shut down it
switches back on 5 or 10 minutes later. If it is put in
standby mode then there is no problem except you get the
annoying message that the system wasn't shutdown properly.
any ideas guys.
