standby/shutdown issue

Hi folks,

My computer will startup/shutdown normally, unless I put it into standby.
If I do, then it freezes when I attempt to restart or shut it down. It also
appears to only go into standby once. If I come out of standby and later try
to put it back into standby, it freezes up again. My only recourse is to
hold in the power button until it shuts down. Any clues?
