Shutdown Troubles

When I turn off my XP Pro machine in the normal way(Start>Shutdown>Ok) it powers down but the light doesnt turn off! The light used to turn off but i recently re-formatted and now the light doesnt turn off! It's not sleeping because if I press a key it doesnt turn on, then i have to switch it off at the power because in about 30-60mins it just starts up again!!!
Any suggestions?
