Shutdown issue

[BUBBA]

After clicking start and then clicking turn off computer it takes sometimes
several minutes for the logos to appear to either shutdown,restart,
standby,etc. Now this has occured since I installed and then removed adaware
program from my PC.

Do I need to defrag. I used tuneup utilities 2007 and Reg cure and Spyware
doctor to see if anything remained from the software.

Also during the wait everything on the PC freezes.

many things can be a
factor for the problem
you describe.

a) one way to eliminate
some possibilities is
to boot into safemode
and see if windows
functions better than
in normal mode.

if is does work better,
then this would be
a clue as to how to
proceed.

b) there are other ways
to fix the system as well,
like using your windows cd
and do what is called
a repair installation.

this method would
replace any windows
system files that may
have been corrupted
or replaced with
counterfeits by malware.

c) if however, you have
reason to believe that
the utilities you mentioned
might be helpful, i would
suggest to forget them and
use this instead:

see if this utility can
resolve your issue.

if not, then you should
attempt suggestion (a)
and let us know your
results, i.e.. better or the
same.

if safemode is
no better than normal
mode, then suggestion
