Shutdown - Files not responding

I am trying to get a very sick XP installation debugged.

On shut down or restart, 3 files continue to show "File Not Responding"
messages and must be shut down manually.

tgfix.exe
jucheck.exe
Java.exe - DLL initialization failed

Any suggestions will be welcome.

I'd uninstall Jave and reinstall the newest version, and the
tgfix.exe...hmmm, see if it's in your add remove programs. If it is, and
you don't know what it is or how it got there, might want to remove it.
