When shutting the system down, I receive the following
error message\Blue Screen....

NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS

I have to then switch off by the power button. When I load
the next time, I get a message that Windows has recovered
from a serious error.

I have not made any changes at all to the system, so do
not understand why I get this all of a sudden.

Please if anyone can help.....

Something you have running in the background is falling over when asked
to close by Shutdown. Try, just before shutdown, using Task Manager
(hit CTL-ALT-DEL to bring it up) and select and 'End' first
applications, then processes that might associate with things like AV or
system utilities to run in the background. You can then shutdown from
TM's Shutdown menu. Experiment with different patterns to see if you
can identify the troublesome item
