Hi, when I run my disc clean up, my laptop shuts down immediately, If I then
restart, XP asks to restore my active desktop and I get the MS error
report about a device driver error, if I then run disc clean up again, it
works fine. I have not recently installed any new hardware, although it has
happened in the past, occasionally. How do I find out what the cause of this
is? I am worried that as it shuts down so quickly, it will eventually lead
to a hard drive failure.
Its a 3 GHz, P4, 512MB ram, Win XP Pro Laptop, all fully updated.
Can anyone please suggest

Hi Mark, thanks for that. I have had an issue with MacAfee Internet
Security, and have had to reinstall. I had had a feeling that the Privacy
Service (Folder Protect) was perhaps a possible reason. Well, after
reinstalling, all, so far seems OK.
I will keep a note of your link in case it does reoccur. (and for a few of
the other fixes)
Thanks again
Mike

Hi, thanks for that Mark, the disk clean up fix seems to have fixed the
problem completely!
Thanks again
Mike
