major crashing - can windows xp be repaird/reinstalled without a disc

have been crashing my toshiba satellite laptop for 3 days.
it's been runing slow for a couple weeks so i did a norton scan disc - and
that's when i got the first crash
BLUE SCREN OF DEATH

Windows detected an error and shut down to protect itself. windows has
recovered from a critical error

getting messages - DELAYED WRITE FAILURE - cannot write to disk - DATA LOST

cannot do 2 things at once - it locks it up and crashes and gives me the
dreaded BSoD

Windows XP Home Edition was preinstalled on here - i have no disc for it.

is there any way i can repair my Windows XP of the laptop itself. are the
Windows XP files somewhere on my laptop???

need help here FAST.

anyone????

thanx - greyhound_gal

There could well be a hidden recovery partition on your machine, check
your manual.

If there is a hidden restore partition it will probably be one that
sets your machine back to the factory defaults which means you will
lose every thing on the HDD.

Before you do this download a copy of Knoppix
(http://www.knoppix.org/), boot your machine from this and copy your
data etc. over to a USB memory stick or an external HDD.

If there is not a hidden partition then you could try contacting
Toshiba and see if they can supply you with the relevant CD or CDs
otherwise you will need to purchase a new copy of XP and download the
relevant drives from the Toshiba web site.
