I've just upgraded from Win 98 & WIN ME to XP. Both
computers have developed shut down problems. On one,
whenever i click shutdown, it just restarts. This has
happened several times in a row. also, I've gotton the
message "hit F1 to continue." On the other one the
computer just says there are others on the computer, you
will shut them down too. What should i do when i get that
message

Windows shutdown has to interact with the motherboard. If they are really
old or not well supported in WinXP there could be a communication problem.
When I see that you just upgraded from Win 98 and ME, I'm "guessing" they
are a bit old and not well supported.

I'm don't know off the top of my head how to do it but you can disable the
auto shutdown feature and have it prompt you to shut down the machine
manually.

Hope this helps, Ed
