Shrinking window size problem

I am running XP Home IE 6 SP2

All of a sudden when I click a link the new window is small in size. If I
manually enlarge the window and close all the new windows open the same size
as the closed window when enlarged.

If I close IE and then click a link the small window is back until I
manually enlarge.

How do I keep the setting for the large window size ?

Try stretching the small window to full size. (Do not use Maximize)
Ensure that window is the last one closed and IE should remember the
size next time.
