I have produced a database for a company. There is one problem the users are
having with it and I wondered if it was possible for some guidance please on
this please?
I provided the database in Access 2000 and they have converted it to Access
2003. There are actually two databases: one main database has the structure
and is linked to another database containing the data so that I can
modify/update the main database periodically without affecting the records in
the other.
The problem they are having is that they want to password protect it now
because it is going onto a network and will be accessed by other users. They
say that the Tools menu is hidden so thay cannot add a password. I told them
to open the database while pressing the SHIFT key. This shows the Tools menu
when the database is opened with the 'Open' command but not when opened with
'Open Exclusive' which they need to do in order to password protect it. In
this case the Tools menu does not appear.
I cannot replicate this in Access 2000 so I wondered whether this was
something particular to Access 2003? Any help would be grreatly appreciated!
Thanks. David.
