Show Desktop fails to work

I have installed Doug Knox's Show Desktop.scf to my Desktop and dragged it
to the quick start bar. When I click on the icon, nothing happens. The file
name is:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Fred\Desktop\Show Desktop.scf"

The contents are:
[Shell]

Command=2

IconFile=explorer.exe,3

[Taskbar]

Command=ToggleDesktop

You mean the Microsoft "Show Desktop" icon?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/190355

Essentially a notepad document with the following:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Saved as "Show Desktop.scf".

Are you sure it is an scf file and not a text file?
(This note in the article:
Note Notepad might automatically append a .txt extension to the file name.
Remove this extension if present. The file name should be Show
Desktop.scf. )

Why the extra spacing?

See if the .SCF file association fix from the following URL helps.

I have the extension entered correctly and the contents of the file.
Apparently the extensions are not associated with the proper program. When I
double-click on the .reg file
"scf_assoc_fix.reg" file nothing happens, except the dialogue box opens that
states "windows cannot open this file". When I double-click the "Show
Desktop", it opens in Windows explorer. What is the proper .exe file to
execute the .scf file?
