Should old word program be uninstalled

I just got a new comp with word 2007 on it and I transfered data with PC
mover which installed word 2003 on my new system. Is it safe to have both
programs on my system? does this use a lot of memory? Should I uninstall old
word 03 program? If I uninstall will it cause loss of documents copied to
word 2007?

You can have both; it doesn't use any memory if it isn't running;
there are a few things you can do with 2003 that you can't do with
2007 (such as AutoComplete), so if you do those things a lot, it's a
reason to keep it. Uninstalling the program won't affect your
documents at all.

But if you intend to switch between them, there's a registry hack you
should do so you don't get the "reconfiguring" message each time you
switch. One of the MVPs will point you to it.

For information on the Registry Hack that Peter Daniels mentioned, see the
following page of fellow MVP Graham Mayor's website:

Making that change to the Registry will avoid Word from re-initializing
itself (a process that takes a noticeable amount of time) every time you
switch from one version to another.
