True, if what you mean by "live updates" is going to the Windows Update
site to get the updates.

its perfectly possible. if you arent running Genuine Windows (like me, id
never pay for that rubbish) then its always wise to NOT install WGA in the
first place.

Once installed, WGA is not designed to be removed. If you were
to attempt to remove it via third-party hacks, you'll likely corrupt
your Windows XP operating system and be required to reinstall.

You can always clean install and then don't download or install WGA.

There is a removal tool at http://www.firewallleaktester.com/removewga.htm
I used it with no problem accept when I go to Windows Update I receive a
prompt to install it(WGA). I just hide this and everything works fine. Greg
