Shortcuts on Windows Mail

Following the recent demise of my own machine I am now sharing my wife's
laptop.
and have found a problem with Windows Mail that comes from having two users.

My own mail is accessed through a shortcut to WM but I am unable to create a
second separate shortcut for hers. If I try to make a shortcut for the second
user - by selecting the option from the list pf programmes above the start
button, each time it takes me through to my own box. I realise the two can go
though the same shortcut but I would prefer a second separate one. Can this
be done in any way?

Thanks to all in advance.

WM no longer has separate Identities that existed in Outlook Express.

From a post by Dave <[email protected]>

Here are a few alternatives to keep your email separate...

1. Create folders for each email account and create message rules to move
email addressed to each account into the appropriate folder.

2. Create and use different Windows Users, each with WM accessing only
their email account. (This is how you set a password to keep other users
out.)

3. Use the newer Windows Live Mail which has separate folders for each
account, but no identities or password:

4. Purchase WMIDs which adds identities to WM

5. Use Windows Mail for one account, Windows Live Mail for another.

Thanks for your prompt reply Steve.

What I forgot to say was that the eMail accounts we use - and prefer - are
both Yahoo, and I have been down that road before but don't seem to be able
to get into WLM with Yahoo.

I did try going into WLM with a Hotmail account, and then opening another
address (Yahoo) from within but that didn't work either.

Sorry I didn't include the info earlier.

Free US based Yahoo accounts do not have POP access, so they will not work
in any Mail Application, only via the Web.

Yahoo do offer a paid for service that does have POP access:

The settings for that service are here
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

Why not consider a free account from either Hotmail, Live or Gmail, they all
offer POP access.

HTH?
