Shortcuts Not Working

Hi

Had a power failure during bootup and ever since my shortcuts don't work.
(both on the desktop and start menu). On a normal windows installation they
are recognised as a shortcut in the properties menu but on mine it is shown
as a .lnk file and will not execute the program associated with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
