Hi,
I have noticed that a DOS program that we run acros the network, has been
running really slow on 2 of our machines and the only difference in
configuration that I can see is the following:

When I go to Network places I see all the shares however instead of being in
the Local Network pane they are displayed in the internet pane.

On the machines that correctly display the shares in the Local Network
section the dos program flies.

Does any one know how to reset / restore the shares to the correct pane? I
assume that as the machine thinks these are internet connections some
additional firewalling / virus checking is slowing the program?

OS is XP PRO SP2.

Firstly, run "ipconfig /all" on this one, and on a working PC, and compare
the IP settings.

Check in particular that the IP address is in the same subnet, and that the
subnet masks are the same. A typo here is often the cause of strange
behaviour.

Then, run "net use" to list the mapped drives. If any of these list as
"disconnected" then you may have a server-timeout issue.

Finally check for powersave options being active on the LAN card. These are
ofthen the cause of slowness or intermittency.

Hope this helps.
