Shortcut icons

When I save a website in Favorites, I sometimes send a shortcut to the
desktop. Many times, a custom icon (a company logo, for example) is created.
Now, for some reason, these have reverted to the generic IE icons (the blue
E). I can get them to reappear in Favorites, but when I try to send them to
the desktop, it creates only the generic IE icon. Any ideas?

They're called Favicons. They are stored in Temporary Internet Files (TIF)
and are lost when TIF is cleared or they expire out of TIF. They can be
preserved with this program:

FavOrg:

http://uk.geocities.com/personel44/files/favorg.zip
FavOrg - Restore and Save Favorite Icons (Line 108)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
or get AM-Deadkink
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/favicon.htm

Thanks, Frank, but I tried that already. This is a different problem. I get
the icons just fine in Favorites (with the IE browser open and Favorites
selected). I just can't get the icons to transfer to the desktop when I send
a shortcut there.
