Shortcut Icons on Desktop

I just converted from Windows2000 on a desktop to WindowsXP on a laptop.
When the technician at our company added shortcut icons to my desktop, they
showed the normal "picture" for each application. For example, Excel's icon
was the normal "X". However, now when I sign in, the icons look like they
have double pictures--the picture in the background is the right one and then
over top of that one, I have the Access icon. The technician could not
figure out how to remove the top icon so the correct one shows. Has anyone
had this happen (and fixed it!)? Thanks!

They maybe overlapped. Right Click an empty area of the Desktop.
Put the mouse pointer over the Context menu option "Arrange Icons By"
and then choose a sub-option (Usually Align to Grid will straighten them
out for you.)
