I trying to put short cuts on my desk top by using the right click when I'm
in a particular web site. The internet explorer comes up saying if I want to
put that web site as a desktop short and I click yes. Nothing happens???

Right-click Desktop | Properties | Web tab & tick SHOW WEB CONTENT ON MY
ACTIVE CONTENT | Click APPLY | Click OK

Look in these two places.

Start | Run | Type: desktop | Click OK |
See if they show up there.

Start | Run | Type: %allusersprofile%\desktop | Click OK |
See if they show up there.

I found them there, but I can't create an icon to be on the desktop.
I tried the SEND TO option, but it doesn't work

Try this.

Right click Desktop | Arrange Icons By |
UNCheck: Lock Web Items on Desktop

Lock Web Items on Desktop...
[[Specifies whether Web content windows or items that *you* have placed on
your desktop are locked in place and can’t be moved. Select the check box to
lock Web content in place. Clear the check box if you want to be able to
move Web content.]]

I guess I had too many of them occuping a lot of space.
Thanks for your input

The Desktop you see is a combination of two folders.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
or
%allusersprofile%\Desktop
AND
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Desktop
or
%userprofile%\Desktop

All Users Desktop: Refers to the desktop common for all the users.

User Desktop: Refers to the desktop of the logged on user.

If your Desktop (the one with the wallpaper) gets full, anything you add to
it usually will show up in the %userprofile%\Desktop folder.

Also if your desktop is really full and it's hard to find something because
the items are not arranged alphabetically, open the %userprofile%\Desktop
folder.

Start | Run | Type: desktop | Click OK
Usually arranged alphabetically there.
