Short Cuts

Jeff

I have a PC that I cannot change the start in directory in
a short cut. The short cut box seems to stop responding.
I have changed it on several other computers like the one
that won't work. I am using a UNC path.

The PC that won't work has W2K SP4 on it. The one that
work have SP3 on them.

Dear Jeff,

Thank you for your posting.

According to your post, shortcuts do not work normally in a W2K SP3
computer.

If I have misunderstood your concern please don't hesitate to let me know.

1. Please right click the shortcut icon => Properties, ensure the listed
path is correct.

2. Could you please confirm if the shortcut directs to local resource such
as C:\WinNT folder, will the freeze problem be reproduced?

3. Please create two mapped drive shortcuts:

a. One mapped drive to remote resource.
b. One mapped drive to locally shared resource.

After that, check if the freeze problem will still remains.

4. In the meantime, please apply W2K SP4 at your convenience to install all
the hotfixes and patches.

Hope them help!

Sincerely,

Seaver Ren
