Short cut to Desktop

I installed XP and cannot get a short cut to the quick
launch bar. I have done a search and can only find a
desklink file of size 0, that does not seem right to me.
Any suggestioins?

You're question is unclear especially in light of the subject. Are you
trying to place a shortcut on the Quick Launch Bar, something which can be
done by drag and drop or are you trying to create or replace the shortcut to
the desktop? Did you lose the "Show Desktop" shortcut that was on Quick
Launch by default?
