Was it something like this?

1. On the Windows desktop, right-click and choose New, Shortcut.

2. In the Create Shortcut dialog, type in “mailto:†followed by the address you want to send to.

3. Click Next, give the shortcut a name, then click Finish.

4. Finally, drag the shortcut from the desktop into the Outlook Shortcuts navigation pane in Outlook 2003 (or onto the Outlook Bar in earlier versions) and drop it on the name of the group where you want to list the shortcut.
