shorcuts for frequently used terms

how do I create a shortcut command for a frequently used term such as
"Employee Retirement Income Security Act"? So I don't have to retype the
words each time.

that's what i'm having trouble doing. When I go to autotext, tne "new" button
is greyed-out.

or do I create one through "autotext", in which case i don't understand the
instructions.

another problem. Now I can't highlight text. my arrow has this frowning box
attached to it that won't let me highlight anything.
