Shell32 Error

Just after McAfee told me that they blocked a Trojan and I clicked on
continue working everything went dead. I have a desktop but nothing opens, I
can't do a scan or open any other program. When I go to the install/uninstall
icon in control panel I get a window that flashes so fast that I can only
read something about shell32.dll error. I checked the windows folder and
there are two shell32 files there?

Any thoughts?

Use "System Restore to restore your system to an earlier date. Then take
every step to remove the virus and completely scan for other infestation.

I wish I could, that went down two weeks ago and doesn't work either! I'm
using a laptop now but the tower is in dire straights and needs to have a
reinstall done but I need to move files first.

Other suggestions are to use the Advanced Options menu to enter via "Last
know good Config" or "Safe Mode" and if you can't get anything done that way
I would try a "Repair Install" of XP

Thanks, that's what I'm going to try late tomorrow when I move the rest of my
files to the other computers on the network.
