shell link hotheys

Hi,

I have created a shell link (shortcut) hot key for "Command Prompt" so that
CRTL+ALT+p launches command prompt. I also have a hot key to launch Internet
Explorer, so CTRL+ALT+e launches I.E. etc. I have done this from start menu
shortcut properties for the respective applications.

However, the hot key allows me to launch only a single instance of Command
Prompt (or Notepad for that matter), but I can launch as many instances of
Internet Explorer using hot keys.

In single instance case, application window just gets focus (instead of
another instance being launched).

Is there a setting somewhere that controls the behaviour of shell link hot
keys? I'd like to be able to launch several command prompts using hot keys.

Thanks,
Mario

No. There are global hotkeys and global windows hotkeys. Explorer registers all global hotkeys from shortcuts to itself. If you press it it starts the app and also registers the hotkey to the window (assuming 1 window to an app). This registration takes precedence. IE is one app with multi windows so it doesn't apply here.
