SHELL.DLL problem

I was trying to open an application I downloaded and got the message saying"cannot find SHELL.DLL. I am not talking about the Windows system32 file but the Windows system file. Can you tell me where to find this file on the installation disk or on the internet at Microsoft?

Hi,

Method 1:
=========
1. Click Start -> Run
2. SFC /Scannow

Method 2:
=========
There should be 2 copies of shell.dll. One in the C:\windows\system folder
and other one in the c:\windows\system32 folder. Please copy the file if
one of the folder does not have the file.

Also check for any adware, spyware,etc programs that could be installed on
your system. If found remove by using utilities from the internet.
