Sheet Tabs suddenly appear as black boxes

On a workbook, used as a template for proposals, individual sheet tabs
suddenly appear as black boxes. All old proposals made from this template
appear the same. Backed-up copies of the template do not solve the problem
either.

Other workbooks and proposals made from them work fine.

Any suggestions?
