shdocvw.dll problems

When i try to click on a link or the back button in
explorer, my computer crashes and some up with the
message "internet explorer has encountered a problem and
must shut down" or however it goes. I look in the details
and shdocvw.dll comes up as the ModName. Could someone
please tell me how to fix this so my pc doesnt crash
anymore. It happens alot! Thanks heaps :)
 
Hi kaukaus,

You need Administrator rights to do the following:

At an NT Command line type "CD\ <enter>"
Then "type" "CD WINNT <enter>
then CD system32
then "type" REN SHDOCVW.DLL SHDOCVW.OLD

then reboot

I have Admin rights but what is an NT Command line?
Sorry for sounding thick but im a noobie :(
 
Go to Start, Run, and type in CMD and hit enter
you will be at a "Command line" or command propt
