I need help!. I am trying to teach the use of windows XP
in sharing folders in a domain setting. When we go to the
share folder and go to permissions, the only thing that
we see is the local machine name. If we reboot the
computer, sometimes we can see the domain name in the
permissions for a very short time and then it goes away.
Have you ever heard of this and can you give me a hint as
to what the problem could be?

Our domain controller is a windows 2000 server and we are
on a local domain. Windows 2000 clients have no problem
setting up shares but in trying to use Windows XP we can
not get the permissions set.

all i can say is keep up with your patches and check your network settings
or network connections.
make sure you can resolve dns correctly and that you have no wierd network
restriction on xp.
