Sharing While on Standby

I just recently set up my home network to connect my notebook and desktop and
i have activated file and print sharing. My notebook is connect to a router
wirelessly. I want to be able to access files and use the printer that is
attached to my desktop from my notebook. This all works fine while the
desktop is up and running but does not while it is on standby. Is there a
was to make the desktop resume from standby automatically when i want to
access files or print from my notebook? I do not want to have to leave my
desktop fully powered up 24/7 if I don't have to. Thanks for any suggestions.

Unless your computer and network adapter support Wake on LAN (WOL) you have
no other option except to leave it on.

Hi

If a regular CAT5 Network cable is used a Laptop will get out of standby
mode when the network get a probe from another computer.

Unfortunately when Wireless goes to sleep it can not detect the Wireless
signal, and thus the Network probe do not get to the computer.
