Sharing issue

1. I have a home network with 2 Win2000 (mine and my wife's) and 1
WinXP computer (daughter), which was just added. I do not understand
sharing and permissions all that well, despite having read a bit about it.

All of our computers are able to see one another and we all access the
internet through a DHCP function of a hub router. My computer, Dad, can
access the other computers by entering administrator and my password.
When I am on Mom, I enter administrator and my password and I can access
Dad. Both Dad and Mom can access Daughter. However, on my daughter's
computer (WinXP) when I use Explorer, Network, Computers Near Me, Dad
and try to access Dad from Daughter, I do not receive a dialog box for
entering the name and password, but, rather, I receive a message that says

" \\Dad\C is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this servier to find out
if you have access permission.
Not enough server storage is available to process this command."

I am a bit flummuxed both about why Dad is unavailable and the second
message about the server storage issue.

2. The second part of this question is that, while I am able to browse
through Daughter's directory from Dad, when I try to either upload or
download files by dragging them to the explorer window, I receive an
Access is Denied message "The source file may be in use" when the file,
in fact is definitely not in use.

3. And the third part is this: I want all computers to be able to
access L: drive on Dad, so that they can backup an image there, using
Acronis True Image 7. How do I set up Mom and Daughter to allow them
free access to that drive (it is a separate 250GB hdd)?

Thanks for your time,
Ken K

I can tell you from my old NT days that the message
"Not enough server storage is available to process this command.""
was caused by the workstation service not running and was fixed by
installing the latest service pack,

Up to date. XP is SP1 + updates (SP2 is too buggy, I am told) and
Win2K is SP4 plus updates.
Which service was not running?

The other point is that with my daughter's computer (XP), I can access
files on my wife's computer (Win2K--identical to mine in updates) so
there is probably something else going on.
