Sharing Access tables in Windows XP

HTC Gal

Using Access 2000 on a 4 computer network with a
customized data base that attaches/detaches to tables
housed on one computer. Worked great with Windows 98, but
Windows XP must share files differently because it just
keeps going south, taking 5 minutes to detach/attach
while switching files. HELP!
 
Perhaps irrelevant, but I'm wondering why you need to attach/detach, rather
than maintain links?
