I have a workbook that I allow read only capability to nine other guys. One
of these guys also needs update capability. How can I set it up to give one
person update capability but the others read only capabilities.

How about giving him the password - you obviously trust him to make
changes.

It is not password protected. The workbook is on my computer and I would like
to be able to give him update capabilities while leaving it read only for the
other guys.

Maybe instead of putting it on your local disk only, you could put the
file on a network drive after enabling workbook protection with
password. That way, everyone will be able to access and read it, but
only you and the other guy will have the passwords and hence the
capability to actually edit.

I have done this for a number of my work files, and it has worked great
for me! Hope it does for u too!

Hi Nancy,

To stop others modifying you need some kind of password protection.

Go to Save as, on the screen in the top right hand corner click on
tools - this will give you some options and only those with a password
can modify.
