Shared spreadsheets

I have a set of Excel spreadsheets that are on a network drive, and was able
to get to them without problems yesterday.

Today, I open a shared spreadsheet, and Excel locks up.

Is there anything that could be causing it? The same problem occurs on any
shared spreadsheet, but local hard drive spreadsheets still work fine.

Hi SonnyBubba,
I have a set of Excel spreadsheets that are on a network drive, and was able
to get to them without problems yesterday.

Today, I open a shared spreadsheet, and Excel locks up.

Is there anything that could be causing it? The same problem occurs on any
shared spreadsheet, but local hard drive spreadsheets still work fine.

Let me start with a warning: Don't share spreadsheets. I see many issues like
yours coming by: crashing of Excel, loss of data, corruption of files. All due
to using the sharing option.

Excel just isn't a multi-user environment.

There is a number of things you might try:

- weed out your temp folder
- restart your computer
- have IT dept restart the server that holds the file
- look at the suggestions here: www.jkp-ads.com/CorruptFiles.htm
