Shared Printers "you do not have access to this printer"

Guest

I have a 2003 Domain with 15 XP Pro PC's, 4 network prnters and 2 shared usb
printers on two different PC's and the configuration is unchanged in over a
year, and I am having no problem with the network printers and the network
shares. As of yesterday morning 3 computers that connect to the shared
printers are getting the error "you do not have access to this printer" the
computer connected to the printer works fine. I have uninstalled &
re-installed the printers and gived full access to "everyone" and re mapped
the printers but I get the same error. I have even tried to connect to the
printer from a server as the Domain admin and that also says I don't have
permission.

I wasn't sure if any recent Microsoft updates could cause this or if the
recent time change could cause the domain to go out of sync, but all systems
correctly went through the time change.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Don

Can the clients having the problem successfully net view the print server?

If the clients connect fine and can print and the queue window header on the
client displays
"Access Denied unable to connect"
then this is a server side issue when the print server cannot connect back
to the spooler on the client.

If the message posted previously is the exact text, then the backchannel
connection is not the issue.

Are the DNS records pointing to the correct machines?

I know zero about domain and DNS setup stuff.

I would think that the output of the nslookup, tracert and ping commands
would be good to know.

The parameter in each case would be the *name* of the server.

I found this

Domain Server: Airtek1
Domain: AIRTEK-INC.LOCAL
Printer is shared on: KATHYLORD

The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_TKT_NYV error from the server
KATHYLORD$. This indicates that the ticket used against that server is not
yet valid (in relationship to that server time). Contact your system
administrator to make sure the client and server times are in sync, and that
the KDC in realm AIRTEK-INC.LOCAL is in sync with the KDC in the client
realm.

I never suspected this due to the fact I checked all PC's & Servers Monday
morning and the time change completed on all systems automatically. I
manually changed the time on the Domain Server to an hour behind the rest of
the network and everything is working properly again.

I don't know what's really wrong but at the end of the day I'll push the
time on the Domain Server to the correct time and reboot the complete system.
"And hope for the best"
