Howcome it apperently is now longer posssible to shared a local drive or
folder to LAN and at the same time protect the share by password prompt
whenever accessed ?

Previously in Win98 or earlier, there was an option to password protect the
share while defining it.

As this not possilbe with XP Pro or am I missing something ?

Hi,

Thanks for you thourough suggestion.

I see thesimple file sharing is an OK option, but what I liked about the
Win98 solution was that I could walk around the company and service all
workstations WITHOUT having to log off the current workstation user. I could
simply access the shared folder from any workstation and then confirm access
by special password while STILL being logged onto workstation as "john doe"
user. That would save me from logging onto workstation as administrator
first.

But, I give your suggestion a go.

regards
Carsten
