My shared folders on my xp machine keep loosing connection. Seems to be over
night. I do not turn the system off but in the morning my shared folders are
no longer shared and can not be accessed. I have to uninstall "file and print
sharing", re-install, the re-boot. I added a D-Word in the registry to
eliminate the autodisconnect but that does not work. Also shred printers on
another work station are acting the same way. Please help. I cannot do this
everyday

The first and easiest step is to see if Power Management is being used
on the network cards. Open Device Manager from the Control Panel System
applet and find the entry for your network adapter. Right-click on it
to get its Properties. Click on the Power Management tab and uncheck
"Allow Windows to turn off this device when not in use". Do this on all
machines.

Ok I did that suggestion. I made an entry in the registry "lanmanserver",
"lanmanworkstation" (autodisconnect; D-word fffffffff for timeout) I noticed
when the shares disconnected I checked the registry entry and those entries
were gone on the lanmanserver side but still in the workstation side. I
re-entered it and yet again it disapeared. Could this be the root of the
problem?
