shared folders don't show

I have a windows xp home computer networked with a windows 98
computer.
There hasn't been any problem with sharing folders. Now, most of my
shared folders on my windows 98 computer don't show in the Xp network.
I tried disenabling and renabling sharing, and it worked only on one
folder.

I think the problem may have started after I did a system restore on
the xp machine. Not sure. I did login in safe mode, did a system
restore and the restore was fine.

However, I can't seem to rerestore the computer to another date( I
would rather keep the current restored point).

Suggestions?

This is what helped for me:
Decide which computer you want to be the master browser (I chose the Win 98
machine) and make sure it is enabled in Control Panel> Network>
Configuration tab> select "File and Printer Sharing" > Properties> Advanced
tab> select "Browse Master" and select Enable. OK> OK> Reboot.
On the XP machine you disable via Start> Run> "services.msc" (without the
quotes) OK. The Computer Brower service can be selected and disabled/enabled
from the window that appears. It can also be stopped/started there.

HTH,
ern.
