Shared folder problem

I purchased a new external drive and formatted it to NTFS. I copied about
1000 folders with files to it from a FAT32 drive. I can see and open all of
the folders and files in the new drive from the computer that has the drive
attached to it. The problem is I can see all of the folders from the other
2 computers on my home network, but can't open about 2/3 of the folders.
They show that they're empty and when I try to open the folder I get access
denied. Any help would be appreciated.

While on the other computers right click the folder and choose Properties |
Sharing.

Frank,

Thank you for your reponse, but I don't quite understand what you're asking
me to do. If I right-click the folder from one of the network computers,
Properties does not show a sharing tab.

Say computer A has a folder that you want to see from computer B.
Sit down at computer A.
Right click the folder.
Select Properties.
Click the Sharing tab.
Set it to what you want.

Thank you, Frank. That's my problem. I shared a folder that has 1000
sub-folder in it with files within each of the sub-folders. My problem is
the remote computers can see and access about 300 of the sub-folders, but
can see and can't access the rest. This is the first time I've run in a
situation where sharing a folder does not give the remote compute access to
all of the sub-folders. I don't want to share every sub-folder
individually. Even if I did, I'd like to know what might be causing a
situation where the remote PC can only access a portion of the sub-folders
under a shared folder. This is working in other areas on my computer, but
not in this one particular folder and I don't know what to look for.

Thanks again for you help.

I don't know.

Check the NTFS permissions of the files and folders you can see but
can't access. Properties - Security - Advanced. Make sure "Inherit from
parent the permissions...." is selected, if it isn't then select it.
Also while you are there check the owner tab and make sure it it the
account you are logged on with. If it isn't the account you are logged

Stephen,

Thank your for your response. Thanks to you, my problem is solved. This is
the first time I've attempted an NTFS external drive and things are a little
different. Thanks again. I appreciate your help.
