for some stupid reason (seemed reasonable at the time), I
cliked on my laptop's C: drive icon (running 2000 pro),
and removed it's "share".

Now I cannot re-enable share on this computer. A right
click on the drive in Windows Explorer no longer shows an
option to share the drive. It's "Properties" no longer
shows an option to share the drive.

Am trying to share folders/printers between the laptop
(W2K) and my desktop (XP Pro), via eathernet.

Help...thanks

Did you try sharing it through the Computer Management Console?
(Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management)

Is File and Printer Sharing installed and enabled? Is Server service
started?

When your accounts on laptop and Desktop PC have administrator rights
you can use the build-in administrative share c$
In desktop PC explorer open \\your_laptop_computer_name\c$
File and printer sharing should be 'connected' to your network card
= installed (I guess?).
