Shared File list won't go away

Probably a simple problem, but I set up a shared file (folder) on a Home
Network. I copied the folders to my new computer, then removed the File
Sharing option on the old computer. The folder is still showing up in the
Network Places (in Windows Explorer) -- I can't access it, but it is still
showing up and is an annoyance -- how do I make it go away.

Right-click and delete it.

OK, Delete works -- just didn't think that was a very eloquent way to handle
the situation. However, some of the old dead links don't offer a Delete,
just Cut, and Cut doesn't make them go away. I suppose a reboot will work,
but I just get tired of rebooting my machines to fix problems.

You're welcome.

Try dragging and dropping an undesired link to the Recycle Bin.

If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what the problem is. All of the
links in My Network Places on my computer offer a Delete. If you
right-click one of those links and click Properties, what does it show
for "Type" and "Target"? Do you recognize the target as something on
your network? On my computer, "Type" says "Folder", and "Target"
shows the computer name and share name: \\computer\share.

There's no need to reboot when making changes in My Network Places.

Steve, Well, they are all gone now because I did re-boot -- to try to get my
main computer to show up on the Home Network. Actually, I think I was able
to Delete the folders under the My Networks -- however, there were also some
"sort-of" duplicated folders (I guess linked-type folders) in the My Network
Places (you know, the ones that say some like "Jazz on HPhost (pavilion)")
that I could not Delete -- even though the links were no longer active.
These went away with the re-boot.
Thanks for the responses/help.

You're welcome, Ron. I can't explain those odd links, and I'm glad
that deleting and rebooting got rid of them. Thanks for the report.
